Tell Me I am Good – Written Wednesday 5th March 1997 (Aged 22)

Tell Me I am Good

tell me i am good
i am a little sad right now
someone said something –
said i was an, ‘undisciplined genius’
it went right to my head
that is what i want to hear
they might not be the best friend
but they know what i need when they’re near
tell me i am good
i need to believe that i am right now
this requires all the strength i have
i need to rebuild
someone looked at me last night
they do not know how i feel
i want to come in from the cold
i do now want to be here forever
i do not want to be here when i am old
tell me i am special
right now, i need a dose of morale
i feel like i have failed
even though i know i have not
i am looking as rough as hell
and my skin is all pale
tell me i am good, please tell me
