Self Soothing – Written Tuesday 12th November 2019 (Aged 44)

Self Soothing

i have been self soothing
since i discovered letters, words, sentences
and i started using
i have been self soothing
since my anxiety stopped taking chances
and suddenly feared losing
all these letters
started making me feel better
everytime i found a phrase
it dragged me to the garden
and directed me around the maze
i have been self soothing
since i noticed my mental health
when childhood became bruising
since i discovered letters, words, sentences
i have been using
when i discovered the reflection
of sallow eyes
seemed less confusing
if i made them laugh
their likeability was less confusing
and the rope bridges they made
seeed more concrete
and less likely to fade
i have been self soothing
since i discovered letter, words, sentences
and i started using
