Relationships Built on the Strange – Written Sunday 15th June 1997 (Aged 22)

Relationships Built on the Strange

got caught behind the carpark
in the dark, the older woman
she has her younger man
but he never says,
mum, can you take my hand
the glad, the sad and the weird
all build a base to share
the fortunate hatch a plan
an egg where they hope –
the yolk will not run
they want to be a number one fan
the older man has his younger girl
could be built on marzipan
relationships come like a shot
out of nowhere, built on the strange
got caught behind the carpark
two people together and alone
it is dark and he is too young to drive
so she gives him a lift home
a place destined to be full of pain
everyone looking for something
relationships built on the strange
