Depression
just one more bout
that’s what i feel it’s all about
depression is an obsession –
of the bored and lonely
one more session
one more bout
it’s like food,
that what i feel this is all about
those ever changing moods
of black and blue
the colours are ever changing
the bleakness comes from the view
just one more bout
highlighted by tension
that’s what i feel it’s all about
that’s how i feel about depression

Depression – Written October 1997 (Aged 22)

This is such an interesting perspective!! Thank you a lot for sharing

Oh I was very young and a bit silly when I wrote this. Thank you for the comment though. I think I was battling my own mental health and it just felt like everyone was, ‘depressed’, and it was kind of like but I am… really I am struggling. I felt others wore it as badge. I’d never write this now or write about well being like this but it captures something of me at this time.

I agree with you. People wear “depressed” as a badge. It’s almost something “cool” to say. They commonly just throw the word around, “I was so depressed when that happened haha!” All the while there are people who are struggling with their mental health—depression to them at times means death. Younger you was very wise

I wise in moments :). Probably this whole 1997 period is my least favourite writing. It’s lacklustre and lacks purpose and quality. It doesn’t read well at times and feels lacking something.

You know more than me, of course. But I think this is phenomenal!
