Swim in the Same Direction

i just want to be close
i just want to know
to know that you believe in me
and that faith is not permanently ‘on tow’
or that self belief 
has realised that it is suddenly time to go
i just want to prove myself
that there was never any need
to think of somebody else
i do not want perfection
but I would like our dreams
to swim in a similar direction
you do not realise the hurt
that your remarks sometimes cause
or even how I defend you
when others feel you fall short
i just want to be close
