hanging pictures
on your wall
could never seem so dull
but the movement of the sea
and the shriek of the gulls

cut your losses and go

i enjoy the honeymoon
but it changes so soon
one day it is the bright morning
then it is overcast afternoon

perhaps i need something extra
something special
something different
something i do not know
yet something that is sorely missed

i have rode all the buses i have seen
some big, some small
some a nightmare, some a dream
i have even rode the buses,
that liked to scream

your advice
was, ‘to be myself’
but how can that be true?
when it was not good enough for you

we drink too much –
when all else fails
and when eyes tell sorry tales
like the mind i lost –
to the ghost i found

but it is also true,
that you did not want that love
no the kind a child offers its mother
the security that children offer
was security turned away
