they laugh at myths,
and mock free thinking beliefs
but the past could just be the key

some people say we will all be finished soon
but if you look

she could touch cool pale worlds
that were meant to be insane
when alice grew up and looked around
she must have thought they were sane

i cannot remember the night before
i cannot remember much any more
it is either five in the afternoon,
or the bus is late
yet someone says it is coming soon

eating mother prepared packed lunches
growing up and dividing out
girls dispensing of their bunches
like television detectives
we still have hunches
