What They Say Hurts
they judge me and never realise –
what they say hurts
they swim on the surface
and with the pretence,
of something clockwork
they serve me a dish –
of something approaching perfection
but i know –
they ran scared from rejection
i looked at their map
and i queried the direction
they judge me and never look to see
how my heart beats
and my soul, with its trickery
completes circus act feats
they never realise what they say hurts
after all,
my lifestyle choices
are cheapened in their eyes
and all my vices remain silent
