My Conviction

i do not have,
the blind faith
of my younger days
and absolute conviction
starts to fade
maybe it is a symptom
of ever increasing age

gaps I once leapt
without question
routes I took
never concerned,
about direction
now I hesitate
and display caution
in myself,

i have never felt stronger
but where once
I would say,
and not even think
rush headlong
and never even blink
wondering where I belonged
as I stood precariously,
on the brink
