Ladders

i had to say
that at this moment in time
the tears creep around me
like the most unwanted vine
but friends are like ladders
with them, you climb
with you –
i always feel true
you can turn me around
and show me a side that is new
i had to say
that you are a princess
to a pauper with little to say
