anniversaries 
signify time
they bring back to the surface
things at the back of your mind

anniversaries
january this year
i think of last year
and the decisions I made
and through a little fear
the routes I could have taken

anniversaries
i am not celebrating
only deliberating
on what could have happened
i have to admit it
i want her here now
next to me and with me

anniversaries 
i tend the garden
that no longer grows
i am haunted by a feeling
that never seems to go
