Another Mass Shooting

we try our best
but another mass shooting
leaves us bereft
what response can be given
that truly reflects how we feel?
it is has become a horrifying norm
all too real
i wish i did not care
it would be easier
and then i would be less scared
our society crumbles
with angry young men
traumatised and brutalised
abused,
by those they did not choose
swolled up,
actual foot soldiers for all these,
bullshit groups,
from the pointless, ‘men’s rights activists’
to the far right or alt right
or some other inadequate group
we try our best,
but this world,
in so many ways is so very broken
it is a heavy sigh,
it is one that i know we all feel
a despair that sits deep inside
