Circus

they runaway to the circus
because the freaks there –
were not as freaky as the freaks
they met in day to day life
they runaway to the circus
because it was secure and safe
and if all was bad they could hide –
behind the make-up on their face
no choice, only they felt pushed
needed a little sanctuary after all these years
the circus was always around
seemed to consume their fears
when they seemed to be down
they runaway to the circus
everyone else was there as family
so many seemed to be running away as well
they caught the train and runaway as well
who are they? i cannot tell
it is my secret, one that i cannot say
they runaway to the circus
because of what had come their way
