The Battle to Say Awake

the battle to stay awake
the battle to keep my eyes open
someone has spoken
but I am in a daydream
I am meant to be doing my job
but the battle to stay awake
means it does not mean a lot
just the same old routine
even the boredom becomes boring
I hear desperation calling
they are pushing me to the edge
and if I fall I will not mind
just as long as it wakes me up
the passing hours stagger by
I am trying keep open my eyes
there is only the boredom
that is all there is
a job I really enjoy
is so very much missed
especially as my day is war
and I am in a battle,
the battle to stay awake
