Please Approve

approval
is my moment to fall down
when it is taken away
i become an addict
craving a fix
the absolute,
crushing defeat
in the lava flow
for a childhood incomplete
approval
is where i humiliate myself
where dignity leaves
and i become somebody else
and those that take it
know you want it
it is then i become an addict
where i need a fix
i feel sad, ashamed
like i have let myself down (again)
