Life Peers In
life peers in through the windows
of a studio flat life
the wallpaper of broken dreams
and the gloomy suburban light
the people next door
only go out at night
and you hold onto the qualifications
as if they give you a divine right
life peers in through the windows
you struggle to pay the bills
and you are not working
time is spent looking for sense
a cheap settee
and you recline in your arrogance
hang those dreams on a peg
but they are too high
so wait till you are taken down a peg or two
life peers in through the windows
and it peers at you
the studio flat is small
but you are having a ball
