Favourite Son

another day,
favourite son did not play
favourite cannot help who he is,
but he takes all the gifts
another day,
the messiah’s son smiles
i was sure he would live by his sword
i was sure he would wait a while
another day,
favourite son still cheats
let him join the flock
to the sound of favourite bleats
she does not talk to him
just smiles and dribbles
with eyelashes working overtime
favourite son,
he has the favourite sign
but it cannot be found on the wheel
favourite son just walks through
never picking up the bill
