People Build Walls (Not Bridges)
people
build walls
not bridges
as they get older
they find a partner
to build high fences
then they have children
to ensure good flood defences
people retreat
to a newly formed
family state
where the capital
is a lack of debate
and saying nothing
is your new, ‘best mate’
people
build walls
not bridges
as the years fall by
any encounter
is, we shall never know why
and every pretty face
will pass them by
there is no risk
in the baker’s dozen
the one they hopefully whisk
