The Letter You Sent Me

there was something –
in the letter you sent me
that was desperately sad
something that felt like
you were deeply bitter
something very triumphant
but so ill placed
it is fine to blow your own trumpet
but learn a tune first
there was something –
in the letter you sent me
it show you for what you are
