I Had to Say Something

i know it is not my place
but sometimes the anger boils up inside
it is hard to say, ‘nothing’
i could not agree –
with this continued labelling
which just appears to be a tool
used for you to avoid the truth
it is used to explain, ‘illness’
not bonding with children
not maintaining a relationship
the father leaving so young
never to remain…
and all the time it is not you
yet the real issues continue to bubble away
just beneath the surface
a mental health volcano
just waiting to erupt
i had to say something
i know that ten years on
if it continues and i know it will
he will become resentful
and you will not know how he feels
