Not Sure About the Looks

they liked my picture,
not sure about these looks
i have found the jokes
to be better hooks,
never a film person
more attracted to books
they spent some time –
with me,
saying i was different –
to the rest
i am not so sure
confidence under house arrest
they said i was magnetic
i wonder if –
the true goal –
was magnetic
but in fact it was the north pole
and i though i am energetic
i am holding onto the cold
they looked at me
as others often have
finding things i wish i had
