Tone Deaf (2nd Version)

people are tone deaf
that is why,
we are where we are
unable to sing from –
the same hymn sheet
people do not like change
focused in –
on the loss and not the gain
the nuance somehow lost
or no clear direction
and comprehension skills
in need of education
people are tone deaf
kindness, compassion
have all been left
there is not universal song
no real national anthem
no rousing speech
national identity
is a self indulgent myth
a delusion, an idea
in which the people will be complicit
