So You Think You Know Me
so you think you know –
exactly who i am
what strikes me as a boy
what makes me a man
so you think –
that just like you
i should give into fear
and that i should –
remain on my knees
you know not a thing
other than stereotypes by disease
so you think you know me
your own version of god
that you have in your sight
and you know the wink and the nod
you strike a tone –
that suggests that you know –
exactly who i am
let me tell you,
my journey is personal
and you could never understand
you could not even begin
and when i look at you
i am reminded of what they say about gin
