If I Knew
If I knew the answer,
I would tell you.
Ships sail in the distance,
our paths cross in the night,
but no one can make sense
of this mess I am in.
It is a surreal world,
I am living in a dream.
Shadows claw at my window,
I am guided by the light,
and the memories that grow.
On a desert island I sit,
watching,
ships sail past in the distance.
Shipwreck stuff,
and a life worth living,
it has got to be enough.
If I knew the answer,
then I would talk to you.
