So Many Times

so many times –
i have wished i was someone else
so many times –
i have not wanted to be myself
the pain i have felt
the things i have done
the way i have acted
what it is to be young
so many times –
i have tried to escape
watching people –
as they think they are doing time
all they do is sit and wait
i do not see why, life is not a crime
so many times –
i have felt –
that i have been unfairly punished
i have felt so inadequate
and rarely that accomplished
so many times –
i have felt this way
but in the end –
i decided that i should stay
