Familiar Pose
it was, and is, a familiar pose
one,
that once inspired more delicate prose
squeezing into party clothes
it was a face,
that had once given me a map
with hopeful direction
but now, through space and time
there was no connection
it was, and is, a familiar pose
one,
that once inspired a variety of prose
but that went
not long after it had arrived
when blame was a deadweight
and suffocated hope, once so alive
it was, and is, a familiar pose
one,
that had once inspired angel laced prose
that final flicker, that final light
then, so suddenly, it goes
