Wear and Tear – Written October 2011 (Aged 36)

Wear and Tear

you only see the damage
when someone else handles the goods
the insecurities still open wounds
seeping memories and experience
like an emotional monsoon
like quirks that have flourished
without any actual warning
the leap of faith with a flat battery
and then, suddenly stalling
you realise a distance of many life miles
only after long lost tears
and friend fuelled smiles
that you are only ever human
and subject to the usual wear and tear
but like anything, and anyone
i respond well to love and care

James Garratt – October 2011
