A Crooked Bat
they all come along –
just to tell me what was wrong
after all,
they had this and they had that
and some of them –
played the game with a crooked bat
and they all wore a badge
which let the world know
that sometimes they were sad
and that sadness –
must give them special dispensation –
for social situations
today no one gives an explanation
but i looked at their badge
and i wondered what it meant
because language is powerful
but language is always different
using words which mean something else
and i am always intrigued
by the words they use to describe themselves
