Put Down

every time i express myself you attack me
whenever i talk about myself,
you say i am selfish
any feelings i talk about are kicked in the face
every time i express myself you attack me
and that nasty side of you –
steps up eagerly to deliver another blow
what actually happened to you –
i must theorise that we will never really know
you do everything you can to put me down
and attempt to force me back into a place
a place which you have decreed for me
the place you want me to be
every time i express myself you attack me
