Coded

the search for explanation
to understand situations
to unpick our code,
to retrace steps,
to map out our roads
this behaviour can consume
overtake us as we make our way
it can frighten us,
if we do not like what it has to say
so we search
and we yearn,
just to understand and learn
the things we do
we are all unique
but our bodies feel strange
and emotions unable to speak
we are not others
although the truth is,
most likely we are
so we search explanation
and we cling to bars
we chase down reasons
with a hefty charge
maybe the hardest lesson in our lives
is that, we are who we are
