Electricity That Crackled – Written Thursday 16th March 2023 (Aged 48)

Electricity That Crackled

middle age not end stage
why then,
do i look back
and why do i look over my shoulder
my life now lives in series of folders
people like them,
how i used to hold her
why then,
do i look back
i am sure it’s the volume,
variety,
and the lack of truthful clarity
it’s the guilt,
shame,
and every moment of wearing a badge
that has the wrong name
middle age not end stage
but the battle,
the electricity that once crackled
and youth,
that once was my shackles
all served to push me along
and youth is gone
long before the light of reality has truly shone
