Sheer Weight – Written Tuesday 24th January 2023 (Aged 47)

Sheer Weight

part of me –
could have stayed there forever
as if time –
never really passes
and why should it
why can’t things just stay the same
hoping that time has no gain
but in those moments –
we are reminded –
that everything moves on
our moments together are quickly gone
it never lasts that long
and the comfort that i felt in that room
just moves on
part of me –
wanted to stay there forever
the thought of everything new
felt too much
desperately not wanting to lose touch
in these moments –
it’s the time you realise –
the sheer weight of goodbye
the sheer weight of realising –
that nothing lasts forever
