Books On The Shelf

i have met a deluge of people –
in my life
many have told me –
they are right
i have met so many people
living life
like it’s a titular contest
telling me,
that they know best
as they suck upon sweet feelings
and i have watched –
as they have come unstuck
and now,
as the years stack up
like books on the shelf
and my past catches up with me
out of breath,
but never letting me be anybody else
i know all about humility
and how –
it’s oh so telling
i have even learned –
it’s true spelling
i have met a storm of people –
in my life
some have argued –
that black is black and white it white
i have met prophets of our age
and most,
if not all have failed to turn my page
