Refuge Of The Past – Written Tuesday 18th April 2023 (Aged 48)

Refuge Of The Past

the refuge of the past…
actually it is no refuge at all
will you love me –
when i am scared and felling small?
you know,
happiness is non descript
that is why sadness has a knack –
of not being able to fit
and self worth –
is often caught biting its lip
because the refuge of the past
comes with no viable lift
when i am scared and feeling small
when i need you the most
will you love me?
will you love me and –
help me through and over the bumps
reality is often bent and twisted
and truth comes with painful lumps
i just need to find a handrail
and a safe way to jump
will you love me –
and share my mental load?
i know it is ill shaped and hard to lift
the refuge of the past
is no refuge at all
in reality the last plane has already left
and there is no final boarding call
