Ahead of Us – Written Sunday 20th July 1997 (Aged 22)

Ahead of Us

there is no way ahead
but some day,
it’s all going to be ahead of us
so,
live well at the moment
satisfy your commercial hunger
there are plenty of chances in your bed
so rest easy,
on your old and empty head
remember,
they are easily led
and there is no glass with my can
i’ll drink it straight with unsteady hands
and i care too much,
to lose touch
friends are everything
but in some ways never really enough
there is blue in my sky
a glint and a glisten in my eye
so if i wait, do not sigh
there is a world waiting
even if it is some time ahead of us
