Feeling Sorry For Yourself – Written October 2003 (Aged 28)

Feeling Sorry For Yourself

what is wrong with feeling sorry for yourself
somebody has to do it
the way i see it,
there is nobody else
why inflict my selfish misery on others
i might as well as do it myself
what is wrong with closing the front door
and hiding away for a few hours –
when you find that you no longer care for the taste
even if life is bitter or sour
you might as well plant your concerns
and watch them flower
what is wrong with outright melancholy
and being down in the dumps
because when it comes to fashionable happiness
i have always been a frump
what is wrong with a few home based tears
someone has to account for the sadness
just as someone has to deal with passing years
excuse me for a while,
as i serve self pity and i pull myself near
