The Next Bright New Thing

i know that the next –
bright new thing –
will come along soon
some bright spark
to light up areas of gloom
someone to compliment –
the haze of winter afternoons
i know that right now –
someone, somewhere –
is connected to fall
that there is nothing we can do
just passengers and freight
as tracks begin to merge
the sea of emotions
as the rivers start to surge
i know that the next –
bright new thing –
will come along soon
