Inheritance – Written September 2005 (Aged 30)

Inheritance

i know it’s true
all parents do –
is fuck up their kids
do you?
i dread to think –
the tales of drink –
dirty dishes –
and tied to a kitchen sink
all parents do –
is fuck up their kids
unable,
to deal with their own problems
they hang onto problems –
as if it is the only identity –
they could ever have
they pass on the problems
of their mum and dad
who are they trying to kid
they know,
exactly what their parents did
it is true
all parents do –
is fuck up their kids
it’s the kind of inheritance
that leaves us in emotional bits
