It’s Not Yesterday

i’ve got to get a hideaway
i should have written you a letter
but not today,
they say it’s going to get better
it’s all right,
but still i leave you confused
and i remain out of focus
do not get used
do not get abused
teased, only pleased
truer words are spoken in jest
that is what they say
i should have said goodbye
but i sat there,
pen in hand
i could only think of the past and sigh
i hope you get understood
i hope i wasn’t bland
you were colourful
i’ve got got to get a hideaway
as well as a dose and a spoonful –
of some luck today
