Appropriate Clothes – Written Monday 1st August 2016 (Aged 41)

Appropriate Clothes

i yearn to just fit in
a life where strangers never knowingly know
one where i am palatable
where my mental state wears appropriate clothes
where the scars have healed and do not show
i want to be all things to all people
and not such a source of debate
where diagnosis, just for once, can wait
i long for the life,
the kind of life where the lanes are spacious
where they open far and wide
where you can manoeuvre without the pain of your inside
where destinations seem different and not the same
where new build dreams do not sink the frame
i long to be me,
a version of me that is not too much
just enough, maybe with some good time luck
at least some it is comfortable to know
a life where i am even keeled
and my mental state wears appropriate clothes
