Genuine Smile – Written September 1996 (Aged 21)

Genuine Smile

people can make their assumptions
people can make an educated guess
but it will never do us any good
we will not be getting the response
the one that makes it all worthwhile
but i know what makes it good,
it’s a genuine smile
a smile that means a lot
people can categorise (and they do)
people can have limited sight
but it will not make a difference
it will not stretch a metre into a mile
all i need to is to have my space
and see a genuine smile,
from a genuine face
people might as well not be here
not if they cannot see the real stuff
just to be make it good any day
show me your smile, that is the only way
