Keeping The Distance (Detached)

Keeping the distance
as far away as can be.
Too much open space,
loneliness very likely.

Words can’t describe what’s happening;
my looks reveal too much —
never seem very flattering.

I will just be a ghost on people’s minds,
a thought that casually drifts by.
It’s up to them to forget me,
as hard as I try.

Keeping away means I am no longer sure,
less sure than I was before.
