As She Lay There – Written Sunday 8th June 2008 (Aged 33)

As She Lay There

as she lay there
i knew that there would be a time –
when she would leave
and i knew that i would hurt
i knew i would grieve
so, as she lay there
i put my own around her
and i pulled her close
knowing i had so little time
and of it, i had to make the most
because i knew in time,
it would not be fine
i counted each second
as if it was a year,
every moment moved forward
with the push of my tears
as she lay there
i knew that in life, there is always hurt
but sometimes, just sometimes
we have to take the magic
just when we can,
as she lay there
this, i did truly understand
