You Had a Choice
of course you always had a choice
but,
when faced with the stark reality –
that i was not the person –
you wanted or needed me to be
then,
you had your choice
you could have said,
i was wrong,
and my, pig headed, stubborn –
i cannot be wrong attitude
will only drive a wedge between us
or,
you could have said,
i realise i am wrong and the end
i need to get to know you better
but that pig headed belief –
that you can never be wrong
and you kamikaze approach –
has cost you dear
of course you always had a choice
a choice –
between pig headed stubbornness
and gentle admittance that you were wrong
a little humility
would have rewarded you in the long term
so,
you paid the price
for refusing to admit that you were wrong
was it worth it?
