I Could Not Sleep Last Night

a lot on the mind,
taken back a few years
when loneliness was my best friend
when it drank my tea
i thought those days had come to an end
i never wanted loneliness –
to come back to me
because, all those tears
well, it was never dignified
all those years ago,
all that hurt inside
and now, the love that i feel
a part at least has slipped into the sea
because if you knew,
you would never have said what you said to me
words are words,
and feelings are real
thy can push back barriers
and i know, in many ways you were right
but i cannot forget the struggle
i hurt so much, i could not sleep last night
