As Children
as children –
did we fulfil –
some selfish mother’s need
some long lost love
some untapped greed
as children –
did we stop the slump
prop up father at his bar
some all time drunk
love never went that far
as children –
did we take it hard
attempt school
but never got that far
playing the fool
