Trees That Never Melt
i have been fortunate in life –
and there is not really –
any rhyme or reason
not when i consider,
some of my living arrangements
attracted as they are,
to some of the colder seasons
something has looked over me, under me –
and around me,
commanding fateful seas
though,
i know that fate does not exist
you cannot attribute –
every phase and every shift
how many times have i broken –
smashed it up,
and let kindness go unspoken
dissolved my past,
and misplaced every token
i have been fortunate in my life –
worked hard,
applied myself,
tried to take self help classes
just to help with my mental health
gone with the avenues,
the ones lined with trees that never melt
