Shoals of Dreams Swimming Inside – Written May 2024 (Aged 49)

Shoals of Dreams Swimming Inside

would she be like what we were –
when we were young
silly,
in love and full of froth
but we are not young,
we are much older,
but she touched my arms
she touched my eyes
and i know there –
were shoals of dreams swimming inside
maybe,
she stands there,
but she stands on a plinth of lies
after all,
relationships have a habit –
of painting their own pictures
and sometimes we never know why
but,
we are not young,
and she is looking at fares and tickets
but only on a partial booking
she is standing next to me
and she is looking at me
counting the waves on her sea
would she be like,
what we used to be when we were young
silly, in love and free
