Provided Me With Love
i read some words,
and fell quickly into my imagination.
it has always been this way,
back to the days of
satchels and demountables
in village primary schools.
childhood,
with all its rules,
blue hymn books and even larger halls.
i remember though,
i remember those voices pulling me on,
pulling me down,
consumed as i was by such strange sounds.
books,
my own lock and key.
in the days when i was committed
to constantly grazing my knees.
set free,
set loose,
happy for comfort,
rules too often not something i wanted to choose.
doorways,
falling apart upon human touch.
i read some words,
and remembered
that she, she had provided me with love.
