Tell Me It Will Be Fine
right now –
hold me,
and tell me i am safe,
that i am loved,
and that our love remains brave.
i miss her,
especially at this time of year,
as my professional conundrums
wear a uniform made of tears.
right now –
wrap your arms around my waist.
tell me
i am not a waste of space,
that our love has luggage
but remains a purposeful case.
i just want to curl up and hide,
like i did
when she died.
but i must face the world,
even when it’s clearly not one i understand.
tell me,
say that it’s going to be okay.
hold my hand—
just us. just us as a couple.
let us, as a collective,
guide ourselves through these times,
as we traverse more complicated lands.
